Des Streckfuss Rest Area can be found just off the Marble Bar Road 129k from Port Hedland. Between Port Hedland and Marble Bar; 74 kilometres from Marble Bar and 79 kilometres from the Great Northern Highway junction.
Des Streckfuss Rest Area is well off the main road although some road train noise can be heard at night. A composting toilet, picnic shelters and a few rubbish bins are scattered around the camp area.
There are a few rough tracks that go down to a large pool on Gorge Creek which provide even better camping opportunities.
