Longreach Water Reserve is a popular free camp on the banks of the Thomson River, just off the Winton Rd about 5km West from Longreach. Near the free camping area turnoff is a Blue rest area sign.
Longreach Water Reserve shares an area with a public motocross track so depending on the activities, noise and dust could become an issue. There is a boat ramp beside the campground with good fishing and plenty of yabbies in the river. The area near the toilets has been covered with gravel, but the rest of the area is on river clay which can become very sticky when it rains. Our recommendation is to get out quick if the rain comes.
Recommended for dry weather only.
