Bedford Weir Free Camp is located about 27km north of Blackwater. Turn off the Capricorn Highway 1km west of Blackwater (25km north to Mackenzie River).
Large grassed area with toilets, hot showers, firebins, firewood, but no power or potable water. The Bedford Weir Free Camp has plenty of shady spots and good fishing (stocked barramundi and golden perch).
Wood fired barbecues and a children’s playground are set in shaded areas by the river, making it an ideal picnic spot.
Wednesday night Happy Hour ($4.00 ea, BYO drinks, nibbles supplied by friendly onsite caretakers.) and Sunday morning tea.
