Cook Time: 10 – 15 minutes
Serves: 15 scones
Ingredients:
- 4 cups self-raising flour
- 1 grated carrot
- 1 grated onion
- 2 eggs
- 125gm grated cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped bacon
- pinch of salt & pepper
- milk
Preparation:
- Mix ingredients with enough milk to form scone dough.
- Turn out onto floured board, knead lightly and press out to a 2.5cm thickness.
- Cut out the scones with a cutter (or glass dipped in flour), place on a floured trivet/tray.
- Cook in a hot camp oven until cooked, approx 10 to 15 minutes. To check if ready, poke scones with a knife.
Hint: Use a rack in the bottom of the camp oven. You don’t need much heat to cook the scones. Also, place a small amount of coals on top of the lid.
