OK I'm heading from Alice Springs to Melbourne with my 4WD. I have 10 days up my sleeve. Cooper Pedy is probably on my list but other than that I am open to suggestions for things REALLY worth seeing and free camps worth staying (roof top tent). Happy to go off road. I also have a spare front seat if anyone is keen and a spare dome tent and sleeping bag (but BYO mattress). ...

This spot is one of our favourites in 6 months travelling Australia. Munall campground in the Blackdown Tablelands National Park (about 2hrs drive west of Rockhampton). So beautiful and hardly anyone there! Site 8 is the best I think because you have your own personal track to the river to have a swim. The biggest and levelest are sites 9, 10 & 11. The only facilities are drop toilets so you need to be pretty self sufficient. Only $6.15 per adult per night 🙂 A hidden gem!! ...
